Review: Various Artists: Hardkore Dokument UK#1
Various Artists: Hardkore Dokument UK#1
With only 2 tracks over the 2-minute mark, Hardkore Dokument has managed to bring 6 artists together on one ltd edition 7”. It’s released in conjunction with 5 separate labels too, as such doing its bit to help promote the underground UK hardcore scene.
As such, it makes sense to give each band it’s own little run down:
The Domestics – “Cherry Blossom Life”
It’s the shortest tune on the Hardkore Dokument EP, at only 1 minutes 21 seconds. So, as you can imagine it doesn’t leave much to the imagination. There’s an in your face shouty hard-core yet cliché line of “take us alive” which will undoubtedly and triumphantly rip your ears to pieces.
Pizza Tramp – “The Only Good Tribute Band is a Fucking Dead one”
Well, although I don’t agree with the extremity of the song title, I’m kind of in agreement with its sentiment. Tribute bands have their place, but I’d far rather listen to 2-minutes of home-grown (American influenced) skate-punk. Which is a good job really, as that’s how the speed-riffs of Pizza Tramp carry out their home delivery system.
Grand Collapse – “Dock”
It comes to something when you have to describe a 2.5-minute song as epic. However, in comparison to the others on this release Grand Collapse provide the longest song on the record. However, this one still keeps the Hardkore Dokument EP going at full throttle.
Wolfbeast Destroyer – “Carved into Bone”
To the uneducated, punk rock is just about 3 chords and 2 fingers. However, Wolfbeast Destroyer throws this pre-conception out the window. With all the guitar solos over the top of some deep vocals, there’s hardly any room for 1 chord, let alone 3 of them!

Rash Decision – “The Shaman”
While the previous track is all about the handy guitar work, Rash Decision pump out a duel vocal attack on “the Shaman”. While already a firm favourite here at Mr Teeth Reviews, this particular tune is reminiscent of America’s Biohazard. Who incidentally I’ve just found out are still going (albeit with only the one singer).
Guilt Police – “It’s a Dirty Church but we all Love Filth”
Bringing punk rock back to its DIY origins are Guilt Police with “It’s a Dirty Church…”. Production on this one clearly the most lo-fi of them all. As such it’s hard to determine whether or not the fuzzy/distorted guitars are deliberate, but it certainly adds to its charm.
With the exception of Wolfbeast Destroyer being previously available online, all 6 tracks are exclusive to this release. Officially not due out until next month, pre-orders are already selling fast, so best you reserve yourself a copy before payday.
There are a few places to track down the Hardkore Dokument UK#1 EP such as here.
Alternatively, contact any of the bands directly and they’ll be sure to help.
