Every so often here at Mr Teeth Reviews, I receive request to review singles. However, more often than not life gets in the way and my little ole website feels neglected. This time around though, I’ve decided to throw a bunch of these singles into one random collection with this ‘ere blog post.
In Violet – “Cathedral Thinking”
London’s In Violet provide a conflicting barrage of industrial beats and samples, with shoe-gaze vocals. Are you supposed to like this? I’m not sure… but I love a bit of experimental noise, so in some ways, it’s a pretty compelling 8.5 minutes if you’re in the right mindset:
Dead Rituals – “Broken Memories”
It turns out I was sent this one last year, but I forgot, maybe my memory is broken? See what I did there… These guys are from Italy, Naples to be precise. Dead Rituals present a song dreams are made of. It floats around nicely, at times sounding as if there’s an Icelandic influence somewhere along the way.
Videostore – “Superhero Movies”
Ah, the side project featuring members of Argonaut from up in that there London. If I recall correctly, this one came about as a lockdown project. As did much of the new music from the last 12 months. If there are any fans of the Cranes, Pompey favourites from yesteryear, it’s worth noting Lorna’s vocals on this particular track are slightly reminiscent of Alison Shaw.
Dieselle May – “Sweeter”
Right, this was released in 2018 and I swear I’ve not been sat on it for that long. However, given I’ve been listening to lots of Sheryl Crow recently, maybe it’s no surprise Dieselle May has popped up again. Although to be fair, I’d still rather be listening to Sheryl…
My Funeral – “Flamethrower”
Finnish metallers My Funeral must have only recently sent me this, so maybe I’ve not been that lacklustre after all. Anyway, if you’ve been following many of Mr Teeth Reviews for bands from mainland Europe, then this is nice and heavy as you’d expect. Although maybe just read the accompanying blurb that comes with this ‘ere video for more details.
The Steve Walker Project – “This is us”
I’ve known Mr Walker for a number of years now and it’s always great to hear him produce a new solo venture. He’s even recently started putting his own voice on record, which considering is a fairly new thing works pretty well. Largely down to Steve’s technical knowledge behind the desk (check out Merciless Mixing) and of course, the heavy riffage that goes along with it.

Fugitive Orchestra – “At the Races (Live Version)”
Ok, so I wasn’t asked to include this one, but the talents of Pompey based James Tattington (aka Fugitive Orchestra) are always worth promoting. Here we have a bedroom version of his recent single “At the Races”. In which you can see visually his song-writing expertise. After all, those guitar licks and cleverly sampled loops don’t completely play themselves you know.
Collection of Random Singles
I swear there was something else, so if you have sent me a single and I’ve not included it here, I’ve probably just forgotten about it. In which case I can only apologise. I’m not one to review singles too often. However, with some albums received in the post and a bunch of ever-changing live dates on the calendar, hopefully, there’s more to come from Mr Teeth Reviews this year.
